1.Information We Collect
- Account information: name, email, and/or phone number, organization, role.
- Educational data: courses, assignments, grades, progress, attendance.
- Usage data: live class participation, AI feature usage, device and browser info.
- Content you upload: documents, images, PDFs, whiteboard drawings, recordings.
2.How We Use Your Data
- To provide the service — managing accounts, courses, live classes, and AI features.
- To improve the platform — analyzing aggregated, anonymized usage patterns.
- To communicate — sending verification codes, password resets, and service updates.
- To ensure security — detecting unauthorized access and preventing abuse.
- To process payments — managing subscriptions and billing.
3.What We Do NOT Do
- We do NOT sell your personal data to third parties — ever.
- We do NOT use individual student data to train AI models.
- We do NOT show advertisements on the platform.
- We do NOT share your data with other organizations on the platform.
- We do NOT track you across other websites.
4.Data Storage & Security
- Data is stored on secure, access-controlled servers operated by SikshyaLab or its infrastructure providers. Infrastructure may change over time; this policy is updated if the change affects how your data is handled.
- Some data may be processed outside Nepal, including by service providers listed below.
- All data in transit is encrypted using TLS/SSL.
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt with salt rounds — never stored in plain text.
- End-to-end encryption is available for private messaging.
- Backups are taken regularly and retained for 30 days.
5.Multi-Tenant Isolation
- Each organization operates in a completely isolated environment.
- Data from one organization is never accessible to another.
- Teachers and admins can only access data within their own organization.
- SuperAdmin access is restricted to platform operations and support.
6.Children's Privacy
- Student accounts are created by their organization's administrator or teacher.
- We collect only the minimum data necessary for educational purposes.
- Parents can request access to their child's data through their organization.
- We do not collect data from children under 13 without organizational and parental oversight.
7.Third-Party Services
- Cloud hosting and storage providers — infrastructure the platform runs on.
- LiveKit — Live video/audio infrastructure for classes.
- Resend — Transactional email delivery.
- SpellSMS — SMS delivery for verification and notifications.
- AI providers — processing for AI features, such as generating notes and answering questions about your material.
- Cloudflare — DNS, CDN, and DDoS protection.

8.Your Rights
- Access — you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — you can ask us to fix anything inaccurate, or edit most of it yourself in your account settings.
- Deletion — you can ask for your account and personal data to be deleted. Some records may be kept where the law requires it.
- Export — you can request your data in a portable format.
- Student accounts belong to their organization: requests from students and parents are handled through that organization's administrator, who can also contact us on their behalf.

9.Data Retention
- Active account data is retained as long as your account is active.
- Deleted accounts are purged after a 30-day grace period.
- AI chat history is kept while your account is active. Older messages in a conversation are condensed into a summary as it grows, and the full history is removed when the account is deleted.
- Live class recordings follow the retention policy of your subscription tier.
- Backups are retained for 30 days and then permanently deleted.
